AXS-One announces support for Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001

Enterprise access and distribution of content critical for corporate Web portal success

Rutherford, NJ U.S.A. June 25, 2001 – AXS-One (AMEX:AXO) today announced its ability to integrate its Enterprise Content Management product, AXSPoint Exchange, with Microsoft's portal software, SharePoint Portal Server.  The AXSPoint Exchange solution enables clients to index, store and retrieve structured and unstructured information stored in legacy reporting and file extracts as well as XML.  This integration will enable organizations to access, disseminate, and share critical business data spanning an intranet and extranet.

“Legacy reports represent the aggregation of data at a specific point in time; data to which specific, and perhaps undocumented, business rules have been applied,” says Nat Bosco, vice president and general manager, AXSPoint Solutions. “Recreating the information used in the legacy reports can become quite time consuming if developers need to reverse engineer business rules, evaluate legacy source code and verify the accuracy of new computations.  There can be tremendous man-hour savings realized when combining the AXSPoint Exchange solution and the SharePoint Portal Server to access and disseminate information from many different sources into one convenient place, quickly and easily.”

The AXSPoint Web Parts for Microsoft Digital Dashboard and SharePoint Portal Server will enable both employees and external partners to have timely access to documents, reports, and other corporate data, regardless of where it exists, within one common user interface. It also enhances the utilization of pre-existing enterprise content with secure, personalized access to relevant business information. SharePoint Portal Server creates a Web portal—known as the dashboard site. The dashboard site offers a centralized access point for finding and managing business information and intelligence. Users can perform document management tasks, find information, and analyze results by using a browser to view the dashboard site.

The AXSPoint Web Parts product includes:

Document Management

Provides a list of the documents that are stored in the AXSPoint Exchange solution. This feature provides clients with a view of the information available throughout the enterprise.

Index Search

Provides the ability to perform a simple or an advanced index search that produces access to business documents, web pages, reports, and related business information across the enterprise.

View Documents/Reports

Allows a user to view the underlying document used to create the indexes that are created as a result of extracting relevant business information from new and legacy reports.

Secure Access

Integration with the optional AXSPoint security feature (Business Partner Account Administrator) provides user access control, such as viewing privileges for an entire document or limited to specific sections, enhancing the self-service functionality without decreasing security.

Advanced Exporting capabilities

Indexed data can be made available in common formats, such as XML, Excel, or as tables available through most major DBMS software.

“This takes AXS-One one step further in providing its clients with business tools that make business processes more effective while significantly extending the life of their legacy applications,” continued Bosco.

AXS-One sales and professional services managers will be offering this combined solution to our existing and new clients immediately, to providing robust enterprise content management capabilities that take advantage of both new and legacy content.
