HONG KONG, 7 December 2005 - Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, a leading provider of customer-focused information technology and telecommunications solutions and services, and AXS-One (AMEX:AXO), a leading provider of high-performance records compliance management software solutions, today announced an alliance whereby Fujitsu will provide the AXS-One Compliance Platform to its customers throughout south China and Hong Kong.
The AXS-One Compliance Platform™ is a single, scalable software platform that enables organisations to manage growing volumes of disparate electronic records. This includes e-mail (Lotus Notes, Microsoft Exchange, and SUN Java System Messaging Servers as well as Bloomberg), instant messages (including AOL, MSN, Yahoo, Reuters and Sametime), SAP output, desktop documents, images and other digital records. All records are managed according to corporate records policies from initial capture and indexing through archiving, retention, search and ultimate destruction.
Fujitsu is ideally positioned to offer a solution to address the growing requirements of compliance and governance, especially among publicly listed companies and organisations doing business with the US. With its UNIX and Windows-based servers, storage and tape offerings and system integration expertise at an enterprise level – Fujitsu is able to offer a totally integrated best-in-class solution, commencing from the initial requirements gathering, through to the platform and delivery.
Under the agreement, Fujitsu will market and deliver the AXS-One Compliance Platform on the Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER or PRIMERGY server and ETERNUS storage hardware. Complete solution support will be provided under Fujitsu's standard service support agreements. This solution is being showcased, and available for performance testing, in Fujitsu's Hong Kong office Demonstration Centre.
Stephen Price, General Manager of Services, Information System & Services Division, Fujitsu Hong Kong, said “Electronic records management will become one of the major investments for IT departments in Hong Kong in the foreseeable future. It will eventually be a requirement for just about every company, not just to meet compliance or corporate governance policies, but also as an investment into gaining competitive advantage.
"AXS-One is a leader in electronic records management and its technology will be one of our key solutions for Hong Kong. Through our extensive testing, we know our solution will be the only total solution in the market, using best-in-class technologies and services. We are confident that our partnership will deliver good returns for both Fujitsu and AXS-One,” he said.
David Thompson, Vice President Asia Pacific for AXS-One, commented, "We are excited about this collaboration with Fujitsu, which has enabled us to build a comprehensive solution to address the compliance requirements for Fujitsu's existing and future clients."
"Fujitsu's global approach to delivering innovative solutions involves rigorous verification and testing processes that will provide for quick implementation of the AXS-One Records Compliance Management Platform, resulting in decreased TCO (total cost of ownership) through cost and storage management," he said.
"With AXS-One's technology on view at Fujitsu's solution demonstration centre in its Hong Kong office, we are confident that Fujitsu's clients, particularly in the government and enterprise sectors, will be well served by a committed team of professionals."
According to Thompson, approximately 80 per cent of company communication is now handled via email and instant messages. "Email is the worst offender for electronic document retention and monitoring. Organisations are putting themselves at risk if they unintentionally retain or destroy documents that could one day be called upon by the courts," he added.
"If a legal discovery order arrives, you usually only have days or at the most, weeks, to deliver those documents. There wouldn't be too many companies that could produce a specific email from five years ago in a few days if they were only relying on backups. That is where Fujitsu and the AXS-One solution can help."
Price said, “Records management is not a simple task of “copy and store”. It requires a sophisticated approach that requires seamless operations between hardware and software. Fujitsu is one of few solution providers in Hong Kong that have an advantage in rolling out this solution because we can provide the highest levels of technical and integration advice, as well as offering a more cost-effective approach to hardware investment.”
"With our enterprise-class customer support and professional services, we ensure every solution is implemented seamlessly, every issue is resolved rapidly and every customer is completely satisfied,” concluded Price.
